Media Correction Publication Lag Tool

Measure elapsed seconds from an original publication to a recorded correction on a shared timestamp scale.

Loading tool…

Description

Require correctionTimestampSeconds no earlier than originalTimestampSeconds and subtract for lagSeconds.

Media records preserve supplied credits, ownership labels, publication dates, corrections, and source details. A formatted record or elapsed-time calculation does not verify the underlying claim or grant reuse rights.

Require correctionTimestampSeconds no earlier than originalTimestampSeconds and subtract for lagSeconds.

When to use this tool

Use Media Correction Publication Lag when you need a consistent media-record component under an explicit source and time convention.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter originalTimestampSeconds, correctionTimestampSeconds. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read lagSeconds. Use the output convention below.

Limitations and assumptions

  • Use synchronized timestamps; publication lag does not establish correction completeness, truth, editorial quality, or harm remediation.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Check the original publication, source evidence, and applicable editorial or rights policy separately.
