Description
Require itemSeconds between zero and positive programSeconds and return item/program as timeShare.
Media proportions depend on whether the denominator includes excluded material, inaudible markers, duplicated roles, or only eligible duration. These choices answer different analytical questions.
Require itemSeconds between zero and positive programSeconds and return item/program as timeShare.
When to use this tool
Use Broadcast Item Time Share when you need a media-study proportion with an explicit counting basis.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter itemSeconds, programSeconds. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read timeShare. Use the output convention below.
Require itemSeconds between zero and positive programSeconds and return item/program as timeShare.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| itemSeconds | Item Seconds | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| programSeconds | Program Seconds | Required. Finite number; strictly above 0. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| timeShare | Time Share | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- The denominator and segment boundaries must be defined consistently; overlap, advertisements, excluded material, and editorial significance are not determined.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
