Serial Issue Supplement Designator

Qualify an explicit serial supplement by parent issue without resolving bibliographic identity.

Description

Qualify an explicit serial supplement by parent issue.

Library records distinguish copies, serial issues, leaf counts, field-state labels and edition-specific rights notes. A leaf may have two potential sides without both being printed or numbered. Due-date and hold-renewal arithmetic uses supplied calendar conventions rather than determining lending terms or access rights.

Qualify an explicit serial supplement by parent issue.

When to use this tool

Use Serial Issue Supplement Designator when you already have serialId, issueText, supplementText and need to qualify an explicit serial supplement by parent issue.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter serialId, issueText, supplementText. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read token. Use the output convention below.

Enter serialId, issueText, supplementText using the field constraints below. Encode these values, in exactly that order, as a JSON array and return the serialized array as text in token. String values are preserved without trimming or external terminology lookup.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • The result records supplied values without resolving bibliographic identity. Sources and asserted relationships are not independently authenticated.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Check the catalogue, physical item, field definition and original rights or lending record for actual status. Use the relevant complete cataloguing or calendar rule when a source label or supplied date offset is insufficient.
