Description
Add depth times both horizontal-run-per-rise ratios to bottomWidth for topWidth.
Simple site geometry approximates an area, section, or volume using ideal shapes. Coherent length units and the distinction between signed and unsigned quantities determine the result's meaning.
Add depth times both horizontal-run-per-rise ratios to bottomWidth for topWidth.
When to use this tool
Use Swale Side Slope Plan Width when you need one transparent landscape geometry component.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter bottomWidth, depth, leftRunPerRise, rightRunPerRise. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read topWidth, crossSectionArea. Use the output convention below.
Add depth times both horizontal-run-per-rise ratios to bottomWidth for topWidth. Return trapezoidal area from depth times the mean top and bottom width.1

} Limitations and assumptions
- Side slopes are dimensionless run/rise values; no hydraulic capacity, erosion stability, or construction suitability is evaluated.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use a surveyed terrain or construction model when irregular shapes, settlement, drainage, and structural performance matter.
