Description

Subtract plantedArea from outerArea for edgeArea and divide by positive outerArea.

An area share depends on the chosen footprint and whether overlapping or excluded regions enter the denominator. Geometric coverage does not automatically imply functional capacity.

Subtract plantedArea from outerArea for edgeArea and divide by positive outerArea.

When to use this tool

Use Planter Edge Area Remainder when you need a declared area fraction or overlap correction.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter outerArea, plantedArea. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read edgeArea, share, defined. Inspect defined before interpreting the associated values.

Subtract plantedArea from outerArea for edgeArea and divide by positive outerArea. At zero total return share zero and defined false.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Area units must match; undefined zero is a placeholder and planting boundaries are not measured.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Inspect the measured boundaries and the relevant drainage, planting, or architectural model before interpreting the share.
