Description

Calculate a residual and assigned share for supplied export value-added components.

International economic quantities depend on currency quotation, valuation base, denominator, accounting boundary and reporting period. A unit value differs from a comparable price, while import penetration can exceed one under a supplied absorption definition. Tax, ownership and counterfactual terms remain explicit scenarios rather than verified economic facts.

Calculate a residual and assigned share for supplied export value-added components.

When to use this tool

Use Export Domestic Foreign Value Added Pair when you already have grossExports, domesticValueAdded, foreignValueAdded and need to calculate a residual and assigned share for supplied export value-added components.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter grossExports, domesticValueAdded, foreignValueAdded. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read unassignedValue, assignedShare, defined. Inspect defined before interpreting the associated values.

Require grossExports/domestic/foreign values>=0; residual=gross-domestic-foreign. Return (domestic+foreign)/gross, or zero with defined=false when gross=0.1

Input fieldMeaning and unitsAccepted input
grossExportsGross ExportsRequired. Finite number; minimum 0.

unassignedValueUnassigned ValueRequired. Finite number.
assignedShare(domestic+foreign)/gross when gross>0; zero placeholder when gross=0.Required. Finite number.
definedFalse for zero gross exports even if supplied components are positive; unassignedValue may be negative.Required. Boolean.

Limitations and assumptions

  • Assigned components may exceed gross, giving negative residual or share above one. A zero-gross share is undefined even when supplied component values are positive.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use the complete underlying accounts, price indices, trade definitions and applicable source rules for an actual comparison. Reconcile valuation, timing, currency and coverage before interpreting a residual or weighted contribution as a broader economic result.
