Description
Validate aligned label/language pairs and simple language-tag grammar.
A controlled vocabulary separates concept identifiers, labels, languages, and hierarchy edges. Distinct literal labels and repeated identical records need different consistency checks.
Validate aligned label/language pairs and simple language-tag grammar.
When to use this tool
Use Thesaurus Preferred Alt Label Conflict when you need a scoped vocabulary-label or ancestry diagnostic.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter preferred, alternative, languages, alternativeLanguages. Keep parallel arrays aligned. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read conflicts, duplicatePreferredLanguages. Use the output convention below.
Validate aligned label/language pairs and simple language-tag grammar. Lowercase language tags, find exact labels occurring as preferred and alternative in the same language, and flag languages with multiple distinct preferred labels.1

} Limitations and assumptions
- Identical repeated preferred labels do not trigger the distinct-label conflict; full BCP 47 validation, RDF semantics, and Unicode normalization are not performed.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Validate the complete vocabulary model and source identifiers, including language and hierarchy policies.
