Workstation Walk Reach Time Term Tool

Calculate workstation walk reach time term from explicit caller-supplied inputs.

Description

Divide walkDistance by positive walkSpeed for walkMinutes and multiply reaches by timePerReach for reachMinutes.

Work-time accounting separates productive time, allowances, overlap, and delays. Changing the allowance denominator or moving work outside downtime changes the interpretation of a calculated time.

Divide walkDistance by positive walkSpeed for walkMinutes and multiply reaches by timePerReach for reachMinutes.

When to use this tool

Use Workstation Walk Reach Time Term when you need one explicit work-element or timing component.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter walkDistance, walkSpeed, reaches, timePerReach, concurrentMinutes. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read walkMinutes, reachMinutes, combinedMinutes. Use the output convention below.

Divide walkDistance by positive walkSpeed for walkMinutes and multiply reaches by timePerReach for reachMinutes. Subtract concurrentMinutes once from their sum.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Speed must use distance per minute and reach time minutes; concurrency cannot exceed either component and ergonomic safety is not evaluated.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use a validated task study and resource plan, considering variability, ergonomics, and safe work requirements.
