Description
Add predecessorDuration and minimumLag to predecessorStart for earliestSuccessor.
Work-time accounting separates productive time, allowances, overlap, and delays. Changing the allowance denominator or moving work outside downtime changes the interpretation of a calculated time.
Add predecessorDuration and minimumLag to predecessorStart for earliestSuccessor.
When to use this tool
Use Assembly Precedence One Link Slack when you need one explicit work-element or timing component.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter predecessorStart, predecessorDuration, successorStart, minimumLag. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read earliestSuccessor, slack, satisfied. Inspect satisfied before interpreting the associated values.
Add predecessorDuration and minimumLag to predecessorStart for earliestSuccessor. Subtract that time from successorStart for slack and compare inclusively for satisfied.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| predecessorStart | Predecessor Start | Required. Finite number. |
| predecessorDuration | Predecessor Duration | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| successorStart | Successor Start | Required. Finite number. |
| minimumLag | Minimum Lag | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| earliestSuccessor | Earliest Successor | Required. Finite number. |
| slack | Slack | Required. Finite number. |
| satisfied | Satisfied | Required. Boolean. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Use common time units; one satisfied link does not validate the complete assembly network, resource plan, or process safety.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
