Description
Add neutralFraction × thickness to innerRadius and multiply by angleRadians for length.
A simple strain, compression, or neutral-axis formula models only part of a material's behavior. Geometry, loading, elasticity, and fatigue assumptions govern how the result can be used.
Add neutralFraction × thickness to innerRadius and multiply by angleRadians for length.
When to use this tool
Use Living Hinge Neutral Axis Length when you need one explicit deformation-model component.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter innerRadius, thickness, neutralFraction, angleRadians. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read length. Use the output convention below.

} Limitations and assumptions
- Neutral fraction is in [0, 1] and angle is radians; the supplied neutral-axis model does not predict strain, fatigue, or hinge service life.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
