Handle Finger Clearance Margin

Compare explicit handle clearance with a supplied requirement without choosing ergonomic or safety standards.

Description

Compare supplied finger clearance with a caller-supplied requirement.

Product geometry depends on reference surfaces, mating dimensions, signed offsets, compression assumptions and material behavior. A clearance comparison or nominal engagement depth describes a limited scalar relation. Physical fit, ergonomics, sealing, strength and electrical compatibility need the complete product and its verified conditions.

Compare supplied finger clearance with a caller-supplied requirement.

When to use this tool

Use Handle Finger Clearance Margin when you already have availableClearance, suppliedRequiredClearance and need to compare supplied finger clearance with a caller-supplied requirement.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter availableClearance, suppliedRequiredClearance. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read margin, meetsSuppliedClearance. Inspect meetsSuppliedClearance before interpreting the associated values.

Require nonnegative clearances; return available-required and available>=required.1

availableClearanceAvailable ClearanceRequired. Finite number; minimum 0.
suppliedRequiredClearanceSupplied Required ClearanceRequired. Finite number; minimum 0.

meetsSuppliedClearanceMeets Supplied ClearanceRequired. Boolean.

Limitations and assumptions

  • A passing flag checks only the supplied scalar; no user's hand, access, pinch hazard or ergonomic requirement is assessed.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Inspect actual component specifications and a complete dimensioned assembly for design decisions. Add material, loading, tolerance and operating-condition analysis when a local gap, radius ratio or supplied compression fraction cannot establish performance.
