Description
For positive semiminor no greater than semimajor, use π × [3(a+b) - sqrt((3a+b)(a+3b))] for circumference.
Ideal product geometry maps dimensions into lengths, areas, or coordinates under a stated shape model. A dimension ratio does not by itself establish manufacturability, strength, or usability.
For positive semiminor no greater than semimajor, use π × [3(a+b) - sqrt((3a+b)(a+3b))] for circumference.
When to use this tool
Use Grip Oval Circumference Estimate when you need one explicit product-geometry component.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter semimajor, semiminor. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read circumference. Use the output convention below.
For positive semiminor no greater than semimajor, use π × [3(a+b) - sqrt((3a+b)(a+3b))] for circumference.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| semimajor | Larger ellipse semiaxis, not a full diameter. | Required. Finite number. |
| semiminor | Positive smaller ellipse semiaxis, not a full diameter. | Required. Finite number; strictly above 0. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| circumference | Circumference | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- This is an ellipse-perimeter approximation using semiaxes, not full diameters; no certified error bound or grip suitability is returned.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
