Description
Return sqrt(majorDiameter × minorDiameter) as areaEquivalentDiameter.
Ideal product geometry maps dimensions into lengths, areas, or coordinates under a stated shape model. A dimension ratio does not by itself establish manufacturability, strength, or usability.
Return sqrt(majorDiameter × minorDiameter) as areaEquivalentDiameter.
When to use this tool
Use Grip Ellipse Equivalent Diameter when you need one explicit product-geometry component.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter majorDiameter, minorDiameter. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read areaEquivalentDiameter. Use the output convention below.
Return sqrt(majorDiameter × minorDiameter) as areaEquivalentDiameter.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| majorDiameter | Major Diameter | Required. Finite number; strictly above 0. |
| minorDiameter | Minor Diameter | Required. Finite number; strictly above 0. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| areaEquivalentDiameter | Area Equivalent Diameter | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- This matches ellipse area to circle area, not perimeter, grip comfort, or an assertion that the first diameter is larger.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
