Serology Research Cutoff Relative Signal Tool

Signal relative to an explicitly supplied blank-corrected research cutoff; no diagnosis or assay-specific cutoff is inferred.

Description

Return (signal-blank)/(cutoff-blank) as relativeSignal and signal-cutoff as margin.

Immune-assay data can contain raw signals, blanks, gated event counts, dilution labels, and research thresholds. Their units and denominators differ, and arithmetic on supplied values is separate from assay validation or clinical interpretation.

Return (signal-blank)/(cutoff-blank) as relativeSignal and signal-cutoff as margin.

When to use this tool

Use Serology Research Cutoff Relative Signal when you need one transparent research-assay calculation or event-accounting check.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter signal, cutoff, blank. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read relativeSignal, margin. Use the output convention below.

Require cutoff greater than blank. Return (signal-blank)/(cutoff-blank) as relativeSignal and signal-cutoff as margin.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • All signals share the assay scale; signed values and values above one are allowed, and this research arithmetic does not select or validate a diagnostic cutoff.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
