Cytokine Unit Prefix Crosswalk

Convert a supplied cytokine value between nano, pico, and femto prefixes while requiring the same underlying quantity and denominator.

Description

Rescale a supplied cytokine value between nano, pico and femto prefixes.

Immunological records separate assay controls, marker codes, censoring, replicate identity and instrument signal conventions. Background-relative ratios need their exact control definition and may extend beyond a unit interval. Flow-detector quantities retain their native instrument units; a local ratio or source label does not classify a cell or establish immunity.

Rescale a supplied cytokine value between nano, pico and femto prefixes.

When to use this tool

Use Cytokine Unit Prefix Crosswalk when you already have value, sourcePrefix, targetPrefix and need to rescale a supplied cytokine value between nano, pico and femto prefixes.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter value, sourcePrefix, targetPrefix. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read convertedValue. Use the output convention below.

Require source/target prefixes from the allowed set; multiply by 10^(source exponent-target exponent), using -9, -12 and -15 respectively.1

Nano, pico and femto correspond to powers 10^-9, 10^-12 and 10^-15. Prefix conversion requires the underlying quantity and denominator unit to remain the same.2

Input fieldMeaning and unitsAccepted input
valueValueRequired. Finite number.
sourcePrefixExactly nano, pico or femto on the same underlying unit and denominator basis.Required. Text; one of "nano", "pico", "femto"; maximum UTF-16 length 8192.
targetPrefixTarget PrefixRequired. Text; one of "nano", "pico", "femto"; maximum UTF-16 length 8192.
Output fieldInterpretationReturned shape
convertedValueSigned input multiplied by 10^(source prefix exponent-target prefix exponent); no mass/activity conversion.Required. Finite number.

Limitations and assumptions

  • Signed values are retained and all unprefixed units and denominator bases must match. This is not a mass/molar, activity or assay conversion.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Review the original assay, control, detector and gating records for substantive interpretation. Use the complete validated analysis with explicit units and censoring treatment; a source token, local subtraction or normalization term does not establish a biological or clinical conclusion.
