Description
Return both background-corrected signals and their ratio.
Immune-assay data can contain raw signals, blanks, gated event counts, dilution labels, and research thresholds. Their units and denominators differ, and arithmetic on supplied values is separate from assay validation or clinical interpretation.
Return both background-corrected signals and their ratio.
When to use this tool
Use Assay Background Fold Reference when you need one transparent research-assay calculation or event-accounting check.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter signal, background, referenceSignal. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read correctedSignal, correctedReference, fold. Use the output convention below.
Require referenceSignal different from background. Return both background-corrected signals and their ratio.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| signal | Supplied signal on the same measurement scale as its reference and blank. | Required. Finite number. |
| background | Background | Required. Finite number. |
| referenceSignal | Reference Signal | Required. Finite number. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| correctedSignal | Corrected Signal | Required. Finite number. |
| correctedReference | Corrected Reference | Required. Finite number. |
| fold | Fold | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- The corrected denominator may be negative; zero is rejected, but this is arithmetic rather than a positivity decision or clinical interpretation.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
