Description
Multiply nonnegative shapeCoefficient by longDiameter and shortDiameter squared for volume.
Fish morphometrics relate lengths, masses, ratios, and geometric components under stated measurement conventions. Standard, fork, and total lengths have distinct anatomical bases and should not be treated as interchangeable labels.
Multiply nonnegative shapeCoefficient by longDiameter and shortDiameter squared for volume.
When to use this tool
Use Larval Fish Yolk Sac Volume Term when you need one explicit morphometric component using compatible supplied measurements.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter longDiameter, shortDiameter, shapeCoefficient. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read volume. Use the output convention below.

} Limitations and assumptions
- Both diameters share a length unit and output uses its cube; the coefficient is supplied, not automatically an ellipsoid coefficient, and no specimen shape or biological condition is validated.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Check measurement landmarks, species-specific models, and uncertainty before interpreting biological condition or comparing samples.
