Description
Multiply measurement by (referenceLength/fishLength) raised to allometricExponent and return that factor separately.
Fish morphometrics relate lengths, masses, ratios, and geometric components under stated measurement conventions. Standard, fork, and total lengths have distinct anatomical bases and should not be treated as interchangeable labels.
Multiply measurement by (referenceLength/fishLength) raised to allometricExponent and return that factor separately.
When to use this tool
Use Fish Morphometric Size Standardization Term when you need one explicit morphometric component using compatible supplied measurements.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter measurement, fishLength, referenceLength, allometricExponent. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read standardized, factor. Use the output convention below.
Require nonnegative measurement and positive fishLength and referenceLength. Multiply measurement by (referenceLength/fishLength) raised to allometricExponent and return that factor separately.1

} Limitations and assumptions
- Fish and reference lengths share units; the exponent is supplied rather than fitted, and this does not establish size independence or biological comparability.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
