Description
Return combined volume and the volume-weighted mean concentration.
Solution calculations use a common volume, mass, or concentration basis. Dilution factors, weighted mixtures, and unit conversions describe different operations; their directions and assumptions must be explicit.
Return combined volume and the volume-weighted mean concentration.
When to use this tool
Use Reservoir Topup Concentration Balance Term when you need one supplied solution or concentration-balance component.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter initialVolume, initialConcentration, addedVolume, addedConcentration. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read finalVolume, mixedConcentration. Use the output convention below.
Require nonnegative volumes and concentrations with positive combined volume. Return combined volume and the volume-weighted mean concentration.1

} Limitations and assumptions
- Volumes share units and concentrations share a compatible volume basis; additive volume and conserved solute are assumed without reaction, precipitation, or uptake modeling.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Check the quantity bases, mixing assumptions, measurement method, and complete chemical or nutrient model separately.
