Description
Return their ratio.
Ideal water-storage and channel geometry uses dimensions, areas, and displacement fractions. Coherent length units determine areas and volumes; actual irregular geometry and hydraulic behavior require additional information.
Return their ratio.
When to use this tool
Use Channel Flow Section Share when you need one explicit geometric component of a tank, bed, conduit, or channel.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter wettedArea, fullSectionArea. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read share. Use the output convention below.
Require positive fullSectionArea and wettedArea between zero and that total. Return their ratio.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| wettedArea | Wetted Area | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| fullSectionArea | Full Section Area | Required. Finite number; strictly above 0. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| share | Dimensionless share under the stated denominator and exclusion convention. | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Areas share units; the geometric share does not establish discharge, hydraulic radius, velocity, or safe flow capacity.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
