Description
Count supported included pixels and included pixels, divide for share, or return share zero with defined false when none are included.
Coverage measures describe how much of a stated observation domain has supplied support. Pixel-count, time-weighted, and area-weighted shares answer different questions and need explicit denominators.
Count supported included pixels and included pixels, divide for share, or return share zero with defined false when none are included.
When to use this tool
Use Radar Pixel Support Share when you need a bounded weather-observation support component.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter supported, included. Keep parallel arrays aligned. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read supportedIncluded, includedCount, share, defined. Inspect defined before interpreting the associated values.
Require aligned supported and included flags. Count supported included pixels and included pixels, divide for share, or return share zero with defined false when none are included.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| supported | Whether the supplied record meets this specific support condition. | Required. Array of boolean; maximum items 256. |
| included | Included | Required. Array of boolean; maximum items 256. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| supportedIncluded | Supported Included | Required. Safe integer. |
| includedCount | Included Count | Required. Safe integer. |
| share | Dimensionless share under the stated denominator and exclusion convention. | Required. Finite number. |
| defined | Whether the associated ratio has its required denominator; inspect before using a zero placeholder. | Required. Boolean. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- This is an unweighted pixel-count fraction, not an area-weighted or quality-estimated rainfall coverage measure; supplied support flags are not independently verified.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Keep observed coverage separate from extrapolated totals and assess missing-data mechanisms before filling gaps.
