Description
Return area × coefficient/totalArea.
Flow calculations relate volume, time, cross-section, velocity, and supplied model parameters. A local ratio or contribution does not by itself solve a complete hydraulic system.
Return area × coefficient/totalArea.
When to use this tool
Use Runoff Coefficient Landuse Weight Term when you need one explicit flow component with coherent units and references.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter area, totalArea, coefficient. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read weightedCoefficient. Use the output convention below.
Require nonnegative area within positive totalArea and coefficient in [0, 1]. Return area × coefficient/totalArea.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| area | Area on the common unit basis stated above. | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| totalArea | Total Area | Required. Finite number; strictly above 0. |
| coefficient | Coefficient | Required. Finite number; minimum 0; maximum 1. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| weightedCoefficient | Weighted Coefficient | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Areas share units; this is one weighted land-use contribution, not the complete catchment coefficient or a calibrated runoff estimate.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use surveyed geometry, appropriate calibration, and a complete hydraulic model for operational or design decisions.
