Infiltration Green Ampt Driving Head Tool

Return the ideal Green-Ampt infiltration-capacity multiplier and piston wetting-front depth.

Loading tool…

Description

Return 1+(suctionHead+pondingHead) × moistureDeficit/cumulativeInfiltration and cumulativeInfiltration/moistureDeficit.

Groundwater components relate hydraulic head, storage, porosity, and supplied flow parameters. A local equation uses a declared aquifer model; it does not establish that model from field observations.

Return 1+(suctionHead+pondingHead) × moistureDeficit/cumulativeInfiltration and cumulativeInfiltration/moistureDeficit.

When to use this tool

Use Infiltration Green Ampt Driving Head when you need one explicit groundwater or soil-storage component.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter suctionHead, pondingHead, moistureDeficit, cumulativeInfiltration. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read capacityFactor, wettingFrontDepth. Use the output convention below.

Require nonnegative suctionHead and pondingHead, moistureDeficit in (0, 1], and positive cumulativeInfiltration. Return 1+(suctionHead+pondingHead) × moistureDeficit/cumulativeInfiltration and cumulativeInfiltration/moistureDeficit.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Heads and cumulative infiltration are lengths in one unit; deficit is a volumetric fraction. The factor needs conductivity separately and is not a solved Green-Ampt time history or field calibration.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use suitable field measurements, aquifer assumptions, and a complete groundwater analysis for resource or safety decisions.
