Description
Form onHand+onOrder-reserved, subtract it from target with a zero floor, and round required units up to positive packSize.
Pharmacy inventory distinguishes physical stock, reservations, holds, lots, package units, and expiry records. A stock calculation describes supplied records and cannot establish that a medicine is suitable or authorized for use.
Form onHand+onOrder-reserved, subtract it from target with a zero floor, and round required units up to positive packSize.
When to use this tool
Use Ward Stock Imprest Reorder Pack Rounding when you need one explicit pharmacy stock-accounting component.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter target, onHand, onOrder, reserved, packSize. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read netPosition, required, packs, orderedUnits, excess. Use the output convention below.

} Limitations and assumptions
- Counts are nonnegative integers; reservations can make net position negative and supplied stock assumptions do not authorize purchasing, product substitution, or dispensing.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Reconcile verified inventory and product records within the pharmacy's controlled workflow before purchasing, releasing, or dispensing stock.
