Description
Divide nonnegative integer totalUnits by positive unitsPerPack using exact integer arithmetic.
Pharmacy inventory distinguishes physical stock, reservations, holds, lots, package units, and expiry records. A stock calculation describes supplied records and cannot establish that a medicine is suitable or authorized for use.
Divide nonnegative integer totalUnits by positive unitsPerPack using exact integer arithmetic.
When to use this tool
Use Medicine Pack Content Remainder when you need one explicit pharmacy stock-accounting component.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter totalUnits, unitsPerPack. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read completePacks, remainingUnits. Use the output convention below.
Divide nonnegative integer totalUnits by positive unitsPerPack using exact integer arithmetic. Return completePacks and remainingUnits.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| totalUnits | Total Units | Required. Safe integer; minimum 0. |
| unitsPerPack | Units Per Pack | Required. Safe integer; minimum 1. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| completePacks | Complete Packs | Required. Safe integer. |
| remainingUnits | Remaining Units | Required. Safe integer. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Units must refer to the same product and pack definition; this counts packaging without validating product identity, storage, or dispensing suitability.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Reconcile verified inventory and product records within the pharmacy's controlled workflow before purchasing, releasing, or dispensing stock.
