Peat Perlite Bark Blend Ratio Mixer

Scale caller peat/perlite/bark loose-volume ratios to a calibrated settled blend volume and balance dry/water masses; no additive pore-volume, pH or fertility guarantee.

Description

Loose substrate ingredients can settle to a smaller final blend volume.

Loose substrate ingredients can settle to a smaller final blend volume. A calibrated settling fraction allows volume planning while keeping dry and water mass ledgers separate.1

Scale caller peat/perlite/bark loose-volume ratios to a calibrated settled blend volume and balance dry/water masses; no additive pore-volume, pH or fertility guarantee.

When to use Peat Perlite Bark Blend Ratio Mixer

Use this tool to scale caller peat/perlite/bark loose-volume ratios to a calibrated settled blend volume and balance dry/water masses; no additive pore-volume, pH or fertility guarantee.

Prepare the plant, nutrient, light or scheduling measurements for the intended crop and period. Keep paired records aligned and confirm units and supplied target values.

How to use Peat Perlite Bark Blend Ratio Mixer and understand its results

  1. Prepare the plant, nutrient, light or scheduling measurements for the intended crop and period. Keep paired records aligned and confirm units and supplied target values.
  2. Enter targetSettledBlendLiters, peatPerliteBarkLooseVolumeWeights, ingredientDryBulkDensitiesKgPerLiter, ingredientWaterMassesKgPerLooseLiter, settledToLooseVolumeFraction using the field table and calculation rules, then run the tool.
  3. Read ingredientLooseVolumesLiters, totalDryMassKg, totalWaterMassKg, settledDryBulkDensityKgPerLiter. The explanation below defines the units, signs, ordering and any flags or placeholder values.
  4. If the tool reports an input issue, correct the values and run it again. Apply the stated assumptions when interpreting a successfully returned result.

Supply exactly three peat/perlite/bark entries for nonnegative volume weights, dry densities and water masses per loose liter. Require positive total weight and target settled volume, with settling fraction in (0,1]. Return loose component volumes, dry/water masses and dry mass per settled liter.

ingredient loose liters=target settled liters/settling fraction × ingredient weight/sum weights

Units, indexing, boundary conditions and exceptional cases are defined in the calculation rules above.

Limitations and assumptions

Pore volumes, pH and fertility are not additive guarantees. The settling fraction must be calibrated for the blend.

Numeric inputs and returned numeric values must be finite; an unrepresentable returned value produces an error. Numeric lists are limited to 100,000 entries; the rules above may require smaller limits. Missing required fields, extra fields, wrong value types and violations of the calculation rules are input errors.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use Substrate Bulk Density Porosity: Derive substrate pore water/air partition from measured saturated and drained core masses; distinct from geology porosity inferred from assumed particle density, requiring full wetting and no core swelling. For a complementary task, use Stock Solution Nitrogen PPM Target: Invert exact final-flow stock replacement and source-water nitrogen to fertilizer stock mass, assuming stock is made in nitrogen-free water; not DAP nitrogen contribution, solubility validation or a crop dosing recommendation.
