Description
Subtract blankSignal from sampleSignal and multiply by targetReference/batchReference, returning corrected signal and normalizationFactor.
Stain analysis distinguishes measured intensity, blank correction, optical density, and linear channel coordinates. These are different representations whose interpretation depends on calibration and the supplied stain model.
Subtract blankSignal from sampleSignal and multiply by targetReference/batchReference, returning corrected signal and normalizationFactor.
When to use this tool
Use Stain Batch Reference Slide Gap when you need one explicit stain-signal component.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter sampleSignal, blankSignal, batchReference, targetReference. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read blankCorrected, normalizationFactor, normalizedSignal. Use the output convention below.
Require positive batchReference and targetReference. Subtract blankSignal from sampleSignal and multiply by targetReference/batchReference, returning corrected signal and normalizationFactor.1

} Limitations and assumptions
- References share units and corrected signals can be signed; normalization does not validate staining comparability, reference slides, or clinical interpretation.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
