Nuclear Count Field Area Normalizer Tool

Observed nuclear density and homogeneous-field count expansion, without inferring cell density in a three-dimensional tissue.

Description

Return countedArea, count/countedArea, and count/sampledFraction.

Histology counting uses eligible objects, sampled areas, exclusions, and reference planes. The chosen denominator and boundary rules affect the result, while actual object identification and sampling validity require separate review.

Return countedArea, count/countedArea, and count/sampledFraction.

When to use this tool

Use Nuclear Count Field Area Normalizer when you need one supplied counting or support component under an explicit protocol.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter count, imagedArea, sampledFraction. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read countedArea, density, wholeFieldEquivalent. Use the output convention below.

Require nonnegative integer count, positive imagedArea, and sampledFraction in (0, 1]. Return countedArea, count/countedArea, and count/sampledFraction.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • CountedArea is the imaged area times the supplied sampling fraction; wholeFieldEquivalent may be fractional and does not establish representativeness or clinical cell density.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Check the full stereological or image-analysis method and appropriate professional interpretation before drawing a tissue conclusion.
