Histology Slide Rack Position Code Tool

Zero-based rack/row/column addressing with explicit rack dimensions and row-major ordering.

Description

Validate nonnegative rack and in-range zero-based row and column within positive grid dimensions.

Histology counting uses eligible objects, sampled areas, exclusions, and reference planes. The chosen denominator and boundary rules affect the result, while actual object identification and sampling validity require separate review.

Validate nonnegative rack and in-range zero-based row and column within positive grid dimensions.

When to use this tool

Use Histology Slide Rack Position Code when you need one supplied counting or support component under an explicit protocol.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter rack, row, column, rows, columns. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read zeroBasedPosition, oneBasedPosition. Use the output convention below.

Validate nonnegative rack and in-range zero-based row and column within positive grid dimensions. Compute rack × rows × columns+row × columns+column and add one for oneBasedPosition.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Position is row-major across identical racks; no physical slide ID, rack labeling convention, or specimen traceability is verified.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Check the full stereological or image-analysis method and appropriate professional interpretation before drawing a tissue conclusion.
