Reptile Mark Recapture Unique ID Pair Tool

Audit explicit release and recapture identifier inventories without estimating abundance or capture probability.

Description

Deduplicate recapturedIds in first-seen order, partition them by release membership, and separately list IDs repeated in the recapture records.

Animal research counts and identifiers depend on observation, category, and sampling conventions. Unknown intervals, repeated IDs, and corrected signals should retain their distinct meanings rather than being silently treated as complete observations.

Deduplicate recapturedIds in first-seen order, partition them by release membership, and separately list IDs repeated in the recapture records.

When to use this tool

Use Reptile Mark Recapture Unique ID Pair when you need a bounded count, timing, identifier, or supplied-reference component.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter releasedIds, recapturedIds. Keep parallel arrays aligned. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read previouslyReleased, novel, duplicateRecaptureIds. Use the output convention below.

Require unique releasedIds. Deduplicate recapturedIds in first-seen order, partition them by release membership, and separately list IDs repeated in the recapture records.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Literal IDs are not authenticated and previouslyReleased does not establish a unique biological animal, population size, or valid mark-recapture assumptions.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Inspect original records and the full observation method before inferring abundance, species identity, or biological significance.
