Amphibian Survey Support Share Tool

Calculate amphibian survey support share from explicit caller-supplied inputs.

Description

Sum eligible time and time satisfying all flags, then divide or return zero with defined false for no eligible time.

Wildlife survey effort can use observer-hours, trap-nights, observation windows, or repeated visits. Equivalent effort applies a declared reporting rule and does not automatically correct detection probability.

Sum eligible time and time satisfying all flags, then divide or return zero with defined false for no eligible time.

When to use this tool

Use Amphibian Survey Support Share when you need one explicit herpetological survey-effort component.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter visitDurations, habitatEligible, weatherValid, observerPresent. Keep parallel arrays aligned. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read eligibleTime, supportedTime, share, defined. Inspect defined before interpreting the associated values.

Require aligned nonnegative visitDurations and habitatEligible, weatherValid, and observerPresent flags. Sum eligible time and time satisfying all flags, then divide or return zero with defined false for no eligible time.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • The share is duration weighted and flags are supplied; no weather criteria, habitat quality, detection probability, or survey validity is independently assessed.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
