Marshalling Quartering Count Capacity Calculator
Audit independently required quarter count against explicit grid capacity; signed shortage retained and no genealogical entitlement.
Description
A rectangular quartering grid has a finite number of cells.
A rectangular quartering grid has a finite number of cells.1
Comparing required quarters with that capacity does not establish entitlement to quarter the arms.
When to use Marshalling Quartering Count Capacity Calculator
Use this tool to calculate or review the supplied observations under the stated rules. Establish the source tradition, viewing frame, coordinate units and independently annotated features.
How to use Marshalling Quartering Count Capacity Calculator and understand its results
- Establish the source tradition, viewing frame, coordinate units and independently annotated features.
- Enter requiredArmorialQuarterCount, callerLayoutRows, callerLayoutColumns, using the field meanings and rules below, then run the tool.
- Read result.capacity, result.unusedQuarterSlots, result.allFit, using the output meanings and calculation rules below.
- Correct any reported input issue and run again. Before using a successful result, check the stated units, signs, reference scope and observation coverage.
| Input field | Meaning | Value type | Requirement |
|---|---|---|---|
| requiredArmorialQuarterCount | Required armorial quarter count | number | Required |
| callerLayoutRows | Caller layout rows | number | Required |
| callerLayoutColumns | Caller layout columns | number | Required |
Use required quarters as a safe integer 0..128 and rows and columns as safe integers 1..64. Multiply rows by columns, subtract required quarters for signed unused capacity, and return whether required≤capacity.
capacity=rows×columns; unused=capacity−required; allFit=(required≤capacity) Use the matching field units and the exact boundary, ordering and reference rules above.
| Output field | Meaning | Value type |
|---|---|---|
| result | Calculated observation or reference | object |
| result.capacity | capacity | number |
| result.unusedQuarterSlots | unused Quarter Slots | number |
| result.allFit | all Fit | boolean |

Capacity can exceed 128 because this tool computes a count and does not generate a cell list. A negative unused value means insufficient capacity; no entitlement or readability assessment is made.
Missing required fields, unknown fields, wrong types and violated rules return input issues. Numeric values and outputs must be finite. Extremely large composite outputs are rejected.
Alternative or Complementary methods
For a related step, use Ordinal Number to Quarter Position Mapper: A quarter's ordinal can be converted into a row and column in a declared grid. For a complementary comparison, use Four-Quarter Charge Layout Positions Generator: A four-quarter layout divides a rectangular envelope into two rows and two columns.
