Hematology Result Dilution Factor

Apply an explicit dilution factor only when the supplied result is marked uncorrected, without selecting a laboratory correction policy.

Description

Apply a supplied dilution factor only when a result is not already corrected.

Hematology records connect source annotations, specimens, instrument/reagent lots, unit bases and control references. A reported dilution correction depends on whether it has already been applied, while percentage and fraction are different representations. Local quantities and source tokens do not validate a sample, result or blood-product release.

Apply a supplied dilution factor only when a result is not already corrected.

When to use this tool

Use Hematology Result Dilution Factor when you already have measuredValue, suppliedDilutionFactor, alreadyCorrected and need to apply a supplied dilution factor only when a result is not already corrected.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter measuredValue, suppliedDilutionFactor, alreadyCorrected. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read reportedValue, multiplier. Use the output convention below.

Require factor>0; if alreadyCorrected, return measuredValue and multiplier=1, otherwise measuredValue*factor and multiplier=factor.1

Input fieldMeaning and unitsAccepted input
measuredValueMeasured ValueRequired. Finite number.
suppliedDilutionFactorSupplied Dilution FactorRequired. Finite number; strictly above 0.
alreadyCorrectedTrue uses multiplier=1 and ignores the supplied factor for scaling; a positive factor is still required.Required. Boolean.
Output fieldInterpretationReturned shape
reportedValueReported ValueRequired. Finite number.
multiplierMultiplierRequired. Finite number.

Limitations and assumptions

  • Values may be signed and factor may be below one; no assay, correction status, count validity or clinical interpretation is verified.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Inspect the original laboratory, QC and product-traceability records before combining results. Use the complete controlled method and reporting convention; one target deviation, volume balance or censoring label does not establish quality or clinical interpretation.
