Blood Product Unit Split Balance

Reconcile explicit parent and split-product volumes, preserving signed discrepancies without release or transfusion guidance.

Description

Calculate allocated and unallocated blood-product split volumes.

Hematology records connect source annotations, specimens, instrument/reagent lots, unit bases and control references. A reported dilution correction depends on whether it has already been applied, while percentage and fraction are different representations. Local quantities and source tokens do not validate a sample, result or blood-product release.

Calculate allocated and unallocated blood-product split volumes.

When to use this tool

Use Blood Product Unit Split Balance when you already have parentVolume, childVolumes, documentedLoss and need to calculate allocated and unallocated blood-product split volumes.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter parentVolume, childVolumes, documentedLoss. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read unallocatedVolume, allocatedVolume. Use the output convention below.

Require parent/loss volumes>=0 and every child volume>=0; sum child volumes and return parent-allocated-loss.1

Input fieldMeaning and unitsAccepted input
parentVolumeParent VolumeRequired. Finite number; minimum 0.
childVolumesChild VolumesRequired. Array of finite number; maximum items 256.
documentedLossDocumented LossRequired. Finite number; minimum 0.
Output fieldInterpretationReturned shape
unallocatedVolumeParent-sum(children)-documentedLoss; signed balance, not release suitability.Required. Finite number.
allocatedVolumeAllocated VolumeRequired. Finite number.

Limitations and assumptions

  • Negative residuals are retained and matching volume bases are assumed; no product identity, sterility, storage, release or safe transfusion is established.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Inspect the original laboratory, QC and product-traceability records before combining results. Use the complete controlled method and reporting convention; one target deviation, volume balance or censoring label does not establish quality or clinical interpretation.
