Blood Film Unknown Cell Denominator Tool

Observation denominator only, without cell identification or diagnostic interpretation.

Description

Return recognized plus unknown only when includeUnknown, and unknown divided by the full total including excluded.

Blood-cell research counts require a defined eligible population, exclusion rule, sampled volume, and dilution basis. Their arithmetic fractions and densities are separate from validated laboratory results and clinical reference intervals.

Return recognized plus unknown only when includeUnknown, and unknown divided by the full total including excluded.

When to use this tool

Use Blood Film Unknown Cell Denominator when you need one transparent research count or denominator component.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter recognized, unknown, excluded, includeUnknown. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read denominator, unknownShare. Use the output convention below.

Require nonnegative recognized, unknown, and excluded counts with positive combined total. Return recognized plus unknown only when includeUnknown, and unknown divided by the full total including excluded.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • The selected denominator can be zero even though unknownShare is defined; no fraction using that denominator is computed and no cell classification or reporting rule is selected.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods
