Analyzer Counting Poisson Relative Error Tool

Poisson counting standard error under independent-event sampling, not total instrument or clinical measurement uncertainty.

Loading tool…

Description

Return sqrt(count), 1/sqrt(count), and sqrt(count) times countsPerEvent.

Blood-cell research counts require a defined eligible population, exclusion rule, sampled volume, and dilution basis. Their arithmetic fractions and densities are separate from validated laboratory results and clinical reference intervals.

Return sqrt(count), 1/sqrt(count), and sqrt(count) times countsPerEvent.

When to use this tool

Use Analyzer Counting Poisson Relative Error when you need one transparent research count or denominator component.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter count, countsPerEvent. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read poissonSd, relativeSd, scaledSd. Use the output convention below.

Require positive integer count and positive countsPerEvent. Return sqrt(count), 1/sqrt(count), and sqrt(count) times countsPerEvent.1

Input fieldMeaning and unitsAccepted input

countsPerEventCounts Per EventRequired. Finite number; strictly above 0.
Output fieldInterpretationReturned shape
poissonSdPoisson SdRequired. Finite number.
relativeSdRelative SdRequired. Finite number.
scaledSdScaled SdRequired. Finite number.

Limitations and assumptions

  • These are plug-in Poisson counting terms under independent equal-rate events, not a confidence interval or complete analyzer uncertainty including dilution, calibration, and classification error.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Review the complete laboratory protocol, quality controls, uncertainty, and appropriate professional interpretation.
