Self Report Confidence Interval Width Tool

Calculate self report confidence interval width from explicit caller-supplied inputs.

Description

Return upper-lower width and each asymmetric margin around estimate.

Personal measurement records use resolutions, scales, reference values, and rounding rules. Resolution is a recording increment and differs from accuracy, uncertainty, and clinical agreement.

Return upper-lower width and each asymmetric margin around estimate.

When to use this tool

Use Self Report Confidence Interval Width when you need one explicit measurement-record comparison or supplied calibration component.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter lower, upper, estimate. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read width, lowerMargin, upperMargin. Use the output convention below.

Require lower no greater than estimate no greater than upper. Return upper-lower width and each asymmetric margin around estimate.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • All inputs share one measurement scale; the tool does not construct or validate a confidence interval, coverage level, statistical model, or clinical interpretation.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Check instrument specifications, unit definitions, and appropriate professional interpretation before drawing a health conclusion.
