FHIR Quantity Comparator Token Tool

Validate and preserve one of the five FHIR R5 Quantity comparator codes without interpreting a quantity or converting to another FHIR release.

Description

Check and preserve one of the five FHIR R5 quantity-comparator tokens.

Health-information systems separate identifiers, code-system namespaces, source versions, missing-value states and reference syntax. Recording a mapping or recognizing a restricted token does not validate its clinical meaning or a complete HL7/FHIR resource. Explicit null, empty text, unknown status and numeric zero are different states.

Check and preserve one of the five FHIR R5 quantity-comparator tokens.

When to use this tool

Use FHIR Quantity Comparator Token when checking the stated restricted health-data record, token or transition convention.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter comparator. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read token. Use the output convention below.

Accept exactly the comparator token <, <=, >=, > or ad and return it unchanged.1

The ad code means an amount sufficient to reach a stated total; it is distinct from the four relational comparison codes.2

Input fieldMeaning and unitsAccepted input
comparatorExactly <, <=, >=, > or ad, case-sensitive; no quantity, units or full resource are validated.Required. Text; one of "<", "<=", ">=", ">", "ad"; maximum UTF-16 length 8192.
Output fieldInterpretationReturned shape
tokenJSON-encoded ordered tuple or literal token under the convention above; not a database lookup or authentication result.Required. Text; maximum UTF-16 length 8192.

  "input": {
    "comparator": "\u003c"
  },
  "output": {

  }
}

Limitations and assumptions

  • This validates one comparator token only; no Quantity value, unit, coding context or full FHIR resource is evaluated.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use the intended complete interoperability specification, authoritative terminology and verified source records for actual resource validation, semantic mapping or clinical use.
