Population Eligible Share Tool

Compute a supplied eligible-person share without selecting eligibility criteria.

Description

Return their fraction with defined true for positive population, otherwise share zero with defined false.

Health-policy indicators compare supplied populations, procedural clocks, rule evidence, or modeled phase-in schedules. A consistent component does not establish actual access, legal entitlement, program quality, or clinical need.

Return their fraction with defined true for positive population, otherwise share zero with defined false.

When to use this tool

Use Population Eligible Share when you need one documented policy-record or indicator component.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter eligible, population. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read share, defined. Inspect defined before interpreting the associated values.

Require nonnegative integer eligible within population. Return their fraction with defined true for positive population, otherwise share zero with defined false.1

Input fieldMeaning and unitsAccepted input
eligibleEligibleRequired. Safe integer; minimum 0.
populationPopulationRequired. Safe integer; minimum 0.
Output fieldInterpretationReturned shape
shareDimensionless share under the stated denominator and exclusion convention.Required. Finite number.
definedWhether the associated ratio has its required denominator; inspect before using a zero placeholder.Required. Boolean.

Limitations and assumptions

  • Zero share is a placeholder when there is no denominator; eligibility criteria, population accuracy, and intervention suitability are not assessed.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Check authoritative program definitions, source records, and the complete policy evaluation before making an eligibility or service decision.
