Description
Multiply weight by duration for yldPerCase and by caseCount for totalYld.
Health-economic utility models combine time with a supplied valuation scale. The reference anchors, duration units, survival basis, and discount timing determine the interpretation of each utility-year contribution.
Multiply weight by duration for yldPerCase and by caseCount for totalYld.
When to use this tool
Use Daly Disability Duration One Case Term when you need one explicit utility or modeled outcome component.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter disabilityWeight, durationYears, caseCount. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read yldPerCase, totalYld. Use the output convention below.
Require disabilityWeight in [0, 1] and nonnegative durationYears and caseCount. Multiply weight by duration for yldPerCase and by caseCount for totalYld.1
The duration-based YLD formulation multiplies incident cases, disability weight, and case duration. It differs from a prevalence-based annual estimate and is only the disability component of a DALY, which also includes years of life lost.2
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| disabilityWeight | Supplied disability weight in [0, 1], not an individual diagnosis. | Required. Finite number; minimum 0; maximum 1. |
| durationYears | Nonnegative duration in years on the model’s stated time basis. | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| caseCount | Case Count | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| yldPerCase | Disability-weighted years for one supplied duration. | Required. Finite number. |
| totalYld | Duration-based aggregate YLD component; excludes years of life lost. | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- This is a duration-based years-lived-with-disability contribution, not a complete DALY including years of life lost; weights and expected case counts are supplied and no individual disability assessment is made.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Check the complete evaluation model and source valuations; arithmetic utility values are not individual clinical assessments or judgments of personal worth.
