Description
Return coveredYears and utility times that duration as utilityYears.
Health-economic utility models combine time with a supplied valuation scale. The reference anchors, duration units, survival basis, and discount timing determine the interpretation of each utility-year contribution.
Return coveredYears and utility times that duration as utilityYears.
When to use this tool
Use QALY Cycle Partial Duration Budget when you need one explicit utility or modeled outcome component.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter utility, cycleYears, coveredFraction. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read coveredYears, utilityYears. Use the output convention below.
Require nonnegative cycleYears and coveredFraction in [0, 1]. Return coveredYears and utility times that duration as utilityYears.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| utility | Dimensionless supplied health-economic utility under one common valuation basis; may be negative. | Required. Finite number. |
| cycleYears | Cycle Years | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| coveredFraction | Covered Fraction | Required. Finite number; minimum 0; maximum 1. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| coveredYears | Covered Years | Required. Finite number. |
| utilityYears | Utility Years | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Utility is supplied and not constrained to [0, 1]; coverage is a modeled time fraction rather than verified survival, benefit entitlement, or measured patient utility.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Check the complete evaluation model and source valuations; arithmetic utility values are not individual clinical assessments or judgments of personal worth.
