Description
Measure the smallest separation between two axial halftone-screen angles.
Print and screen geometry depends on coordinate scale, placed image size, bleed/inset definitions and pixel transparency. Placed pixels per inch differs from printer dots per inch, and a caller-chosen margin differs from a verified production tolerance. Empty-image conventions and threshold equality affect bounding results.
Measure the smallest separation between two axial halftone-screen angles.
When to use this tool
Use Halftone Screen Angle Separation Pair when checking the stated artwork geometry, placement, screen angle or alpha-bound convention.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter firstAngleDegrees, secondAngleDegrees. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read smallestSeparationDegrees. Use the output convention below.
Treat screen angles as axial directions modulo 180 degrees. Return the smallest absolute separation in [0,90], handling negative and multi-turn input angles.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| firstAngleDegrees | First Angle Degrees | Required. Finite number. |
| secondAngleDegrees | Second Angle Degrees | Required. Finite number. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| smallestSeparationDegrees | Smallest axial angle in [0,90], treating directions separated by 180° as equivalent. | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- This compares two supplied screen orientations; no screen frequency, color separation or actual moiré risk is evaluated.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
