GMP Process Hold Time Explicit Margin Tool

Compare an explicitly counted hold interval against a supplied limit.

Description

Subtract paused only when includePause is false, then return margin and inclusive within comparison.

Manufacturing time budgets depend on clock origins, pause conventions, and boundary inclusion. Subtracting timestamps produces a duration; whether that duration is acceptable depends on an independently supplied procedure or limit.

Subtract paused only when includePause is false, then return margin and inclusive within comparison.

When to use this tool

Use GMP Process Hold Time Explicit Margin when you need a manufacturing interval or timing-budget calculation from supplied records.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter holdStart, holdEnd, paused, suppliedMaximum, includePause. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read elapsed, counted, margin, within. Inspect within before interpreting the associated values.

Require ordered hold endpoints, paused within elapsed, and nonnegative suppliedMaximum. Subtract paused only when includePause is false, then return margin and inclusive within comparison.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • All durations share units; the maximum and pause policy are supplied, without assessing stability, contamination, validated process limits, or authorized disposition.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use the applicable controlled procedure and complete timestamp history for timing decisions. Resolve clock units, pauses, and effective-date rules before comparing the result with an approved limit.
