Older Adult Social Contact Day Rate Tool

Descriptive diary contact frequency; no social isolation threshold or well-being assessment.

Loading tool…

Description

Return events per observed day, contact-day share, and events per contact day.

Research time coordinates can represent age, residence, observation, or follow-up. Fixed year lengths and censored intervals are modeling conventions; an unfinished observation supplies less timing information than a completed event.

Return events per observed day, contact-day share, and events per contact day.

When to use this tool

Use Older Adult Social Contact Day Rate when you need an ageing-research interval calculation with an explicit time basis.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter contactEvents, observedDays, contactDays. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read eventsPerDay, contactDayFraction, eventsPerContactDay. Use the output convention below.

Require positive observedDays, integer contactDays from one through observedDays, and contactEvents at least contactDays. Return events per observed day, contact-day share, and events per contact day.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • The contract excludes zero contact days and no social-health threshold is selected; contact definitions, quality, completeness, and wellbeing are not assessed.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use actual calendar dates for calendar age and an appropriate censoring-aware analysis for incomplete follow-up. Verify origin, units, and event definitions against the study protocol.
