Older Adult Proxy Window Credit Tool

Deduplicate supplied direct/proxy contact minutes without assessing proxy authority.

Description

Return direct minutes alone or add proxy minutes minus their shared overlap when countProxy.

Research time coordinates can represent age, residence, observation, or follow-up. Fixed year lengths and censored intervals are modeling conventions; an unfinished observation supplies less timing information than a completed event.

Return direct minutes alone or add proxy minutes minus their shared overlap when countProxy.

When to use this tool

Use Older Adult Proxy Window Credit when you need an ageing-research interval calculation with an explicit time basis.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter directMinutes, proxyMinutes, sharedMinutes, countProxy. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read creditedMinutes. Use the output convention below.

Require nonnegative direct and proxy minutes and sharedMinutes within both. Return direct minutes alone or add proxy minutes minus their shared overlap when countProxy.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Shared overlap is validated even when proxy is excluded; proxy observations are not verified for consent, equivalence, accuracy, or clinical interpretation.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use actual calendar dates for calendar age and an appropriate censoring-aware analysis for incomplete follow-up. Verify origin, units, and event definitions against the study protocol.
