Aging Panel Exposure Month Term Tool

Half-open month-coordinate overlap, without assigning calendar months fixed day counts.

Description

Return their overlap duration and fraction of wave duration.

Research time coordinates can represent age, residence, observation, or follow-up. Fixed year lengths and censored intervals are modeling conventions; an unfinished observation supplies less timing information than a completed event.

Return their overlap duration and fraction of wave duration.

When to use this tool

Use Aging Panel Exposure Month Term when you need an ageing-research interval calculation with an explicit time basis.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter entryMonth, exitMonth, waveStartMonth, waveEndMonth. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read exposureMonths, waveFraction. Use the output convention below.

Require ordered entry/exit months and a positive wave interval. Return their overlap duration and fraction of wave duration.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Month inputs are numeric coordinates rather than dates; overlap does not establish actual exposure, continuous observation, survival, or a valid study cohort.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use actual calendar dates for calendar age and an appropriate censoring-aware analysis for incomplete follow-up. Verify origin, units, and event definitions against the study protocol.
