Sediment Particle Roundness Source Row Tool

Preserve an explicit sediment particle roundness transcription and reference scale without image classification.

Description

Record the source row for a sediment particle-roundness label.

Geomorphic measurements distinguish signed coordinates, grain-size scales, profile derivatives and transported-mass or cross-section bases. A supplied datum adjustment or threshold does not detect a landform or establish a process. Plan distance, profile second derivative and slope-normalized curvature are different quantities.

Record the source row for a sediment particle-roundness label.

When to use this tool

Use Sediment Particle Roundness Source Row when checking the stated local landform, sediment, profile or coordinate convention.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter particleId, suppliedRoundnessText, referenceScale. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read token. Use the output convention below.

Require nonempty particle ID, supplied roundness text and reference scale. Encode the ordered triple as JSON text.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Roundness is not measured or classified, and the named scale is not validated against an image or geological standard.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use calibrated surveys, mapped geometry and suitable complete sediment/terrain models for trends, process interpretation, uncertainty or hazard assessment.
