Weighted Gamete Grid

Build a weighted gamete-combination grid allowing caller-supplied transmission probabilities.

Description

A weighted gamete grid allows transmission probabilities to differ from equal Mendelian proportions.

A weighted gamete grid allows transmission probabilities to differ from equal Mendelian proportions. Independent parental gametes combine through products of their probabilities.

Build a weighted gamete-combination grid allowing caller-supplied transmission probabilities.

When to use Weighted Gamete Grid

Use this for the following task: Build a weighted gamete-combination grid allowing caller-supplied transmission probabilities.

Prepare the observed records or explicit model parameters requested below. Keep probabilities as fractions and paired records aligned.

How to use Weighted Gamete Grid and understand its results

  1. Prepare the observed records or explicit model parameters requested below. Keep probabilities as fractions and paired records aligned.
  2. Enter firstGametes, firstProbabilities, secondGametes, secondProbabilities using the field table, then run the tool.
  3. Read crossCells, cellProbabilities. Interpret flags, units, ordering and placeholder values using the rules below.
  4. Review any reported issue or failed check, correct the supplied values when appropriate, and verify the result in its intended context.
Input fieldMeaningValue type and boundsRequirement

firstProbabilitiesFirst probabilitieslist of number; each entry: numberRequired
secondGametesSecond gameteslist of string; each entry: stringRequired
secondProbabilitiesSecond probabilitieslist of number; each entry: numberRequired

Align gamete labels and fractions for each parent, requiring each probability list to sum to one within 1e−10. Emit first-parent-major combination labels and weights.1

cellProbability[i,j] = firstProbability[i] × secondProbability[j]

This summarizes the declared operation. Units, indexing, inclusivity and exceptional cases are explained in the surrounding text.

Limitations and assumptions

A maximum of 100000 combinations is allowed. Labels are not parsed into genotypes and parental gamete independence is assumed.

The tool evaluates supplied observations or a declared model. It does not establish the biological cause of an observed pattern. Malformed requests produce input errors. A successfully evaluated request can still contain false flags, empty result lists or a result outside the supplied threshold; those outcomes have the meanings stated above.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Choose Trihybrid Gamete Grid for this operation: Enumerate three-locus Mendelian gamete combinations and distinct multilocus offspring genotypes. For a complementary task, use Phenotype Class Aggregation for this operation: Aggregate genotype-class probabilities into caller-defined phenotype percentages.

The implementation reference documents the exact calculation, supported input shapes and returned fields.
