Trihybrid Gamete Grid

Enumerate three-locus Mendelian gamete combinations and distinct multilocus offspring genotypes.

Description

A three-locus Mendelian cross enumerates gametes by selecting one allele at each locus.

A three-locus Mendelian cross enumerates gametes by selecting one allele at each locus. Equivalent allele pairings can yield the same multilocus offspring genotype.

Enumerate three-locus Mendelian gamete combinations and distinct multilocus offspring genotypes.

When to use Trihybrid Gamete Grid

Use this for the following task: Enumerate three-locus Mendelian gamete combinations and distinct multilocus offspring genotypes.

Prepare the observed records or explicit model parameters requested below. Keep probabilities as fractions and paired records aligned.

How to use Trihybrid Gamete Grid and understand its results

  1. Prepare the observed records or explicit model parameters requested below. Keep probabilities as fractions and paired records aligned.
  2. Enter firstParentLocusPairs, secondParentLocusPairs using the field table, then run the tool.
  3. Read firstGametes, secondGametes, combinationCells, uniqueOffspringGenotypes. Interpret flags, units, ordering and placeholder values using the rules below.
  4. Review any reported issue or failed check, correct the supplied values when appropriate, and verify the result in its intended context.

Supply three two-character allele pairs per parent using one distinct letter per homologous locus and case to distinguish alleles. Enumerate all choices, sort each offspring locus pair and count distinct genotype strings.1

8 enumerated allele-choice gametes per parent; combinationCells = 64

This summarizes the declared operation. Units, indexing, inclusivity and exceptional cases are explained in the surrounding text.

Limitations and assumptions

Homozygous alleles produce duplicate enumerated gamete strings intentionally. Independent segregation is assumed and phenotype probabilities are not returned.

The tool evaluates supplied observations or a declared model. It does not establish the biological cause of an observed pattern. Malformed requests produce input errors. A successfully evaluated request can still contain false flags, empty result lists or a result outside the supplied threshold; those outcomes have the meanings stated above.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Choose Weighted Gamete Grid for this operation: Build a weighted gamete-combination grid allowing caller-supplied transmission probabilities. For a complementary task, use Additive Phenotype Class Count for this operation: Count equal-effect additive phenotype classes under a fully segregating diploid locus model.

The implementation reference documents the exact calculation, supported input shapes and returned fields.
