Description
Return unassigned, heldAssigned, and the algebraic accounted total.
Clinical-trial accounting distinguishes nested participant counts, material disposition, and monetary claims. A consistent supplied budget or count model is useful for reconciliation but cannot verify actual people, material movements, or payment entitlement.
Return unassigned, heldAssigned, and the algebraic accounted total.
When to use this tool
Use GCP Trial Material Receipt Return Balance when you need a transparent clinical-trial count or accounting calculation.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter received, assigned, returned, destroyed, dispensed. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read unassigned, heldAssigned, accounted. Use the output convention below.
Require integer counts with received at least assigned at least dispensed at least returned, and destroyed no greater than assigned minus dispensed plus returned. Return unassigned, heldAssigned, and the algebraic accounted total.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| received | Received | Required. Safe integer; minimum 0. |
| assigned | Assigned | Required. Safe integer; minimum 0. |
| returned | Returned | Required. Safe integer; minimum 0. |
| destroyed | Destroyed | Required. Safe integer; minimum 0. |
| dispensed | Dispensed | Required. Safe integer; minimum 0. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| unassigned | Unassigned | Required. Safe integer. |
| heldAssigned | Held Assigned | Required. Safe integer. |
| accounted | Algebraic accounting total, identically received under the accepted model; not an independent physical audit. | Required. Safe integer. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Returned means returned from dispensed units into assigned holdings. accounted simplifies to received under the model and is not an independent reconciliation or verification of actual trial material, release, storage, or destruction.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Reconcile authenticated logs and source records using the intended trial procedures. Use responsible quality, clinical, ethics, or financial review for actual material, participant, or reimbursement decisions.
